We had a great inaugural gathering of the OJCC Scholars 2025! We are going to have a great time sharing workers' compensation and preparing for the future! See more about the Scholars program here . We spent our time this week getting acquainted, reviewing some Florida history, learning an overview of comparative law, and taking a deeper dive into the history of workers compensation.   08.05.24 Tallahassee DOAH office will be open August 6, 2024 for normal operations. This includes the OJCC Tallahassee staff and JCC.  District JAX remains pending. No further information at this time (18:00) . District JAX is open as normal on 08.06.24.  08.04.24 FL Supreme Court notes closure of courthouses in the red counties 08.05.24 for Debby. The Duval County Courthouse is also closed 08.05.24. The Jacksonville OJCC office will be closed 08.05.24.  OJCC operations in TLH may be affected. Mediations may proceed at discretion of the assigned mediator. Closure of any district office does not mean automatic cancellation of mediation. Contact the mediator for clarification or confirmation. In the event of power failure in Tallahassee, eJCC may experience outages. Stay tuned here for updates and information.   Inclement weather may pose a risk of service interruption or office closure. It is important to remember a few contact points for those situations. First and foremost is the rule. However, there are many good sources of information. The Rule: Rule 60Q 60Q-6.130. EMERGENCY OFFICE CLOSURE (1) The Office of Judges of Compensation Claims is subject to closure pursuant to Gubernatorial instructions or declarations pursuant to Article IV, section 1(a) of the Florida Constitution and the Florida Emergency Management Act. (2) Whenever the Circuit Courts in the particular county in which an OJCC office is located close, due to a weather or other disaster emergency, the district office of the Office of Judges of Compensation Claims in that county shall likewise close for the duration of the emergency closure ordered by that Circuit Court. (3) Any unscheduled closure of an OJCC office will be published on the OJCC website, and through such other means deemed necessary by the Deputy Chief Judge.
