Governor DeSantis makes Appointments and Reappointments

  Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Five Judges of Compensation Claims On July 20, 2023, in  News Releases , by Staff TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announces five appointments to the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims.   Kimberly Hill, of Fort Lauderdale, to serve as a Judge of Compensation Claims Hill has been a Solo Practitioner with Kimberly A. Hill, P.L. since 2008. Previously, she was a Senior Litigation Attorney at Anidjar & Levine. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and her juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University. Hill fills one of the vacancies in the West Palm Beach office.   Ralph Humphries, of Ponte Vedra, to serve as a Judge of Compensation Claims  Humphries has been a Judge of Compensation Claims since 2010. Previously, he was a partner at Boyd & Jenerette. He earned his bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from the University of Florida. Humphries is reappointed to the Jacksonville office.   Ray Hol

Administrative and SDTF Assessment Rates 2023

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) issued an Informational Bulletin (DFS-02-2023). The Bulletin advises insurers, self-insurers, and other related stakeholders that Florida's Chief Financial Officer has issued an Order (Case No. 311284-WC) setting the WCATF assessment rate for Calendar Year 2024. The 2024 WCATF assessment rate has been set to remain at 0.79%. The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Workers' Compensation issued another Informational Bulletin (DFS-01-2023). The Bulletin advises insurers, self-insurers, and other related stakeholders that Florida's Chief Financial Officer has issued an Order (Case No. 311288-WC) setting the assessment rate for the SDTF for Calendar Year 2024. The 2024 SDTF assessment rate has been set to reduce to 0.37%. This also represents a steady decrease in the assessment rate for the SDTF in each of the preceding thirteen years.
